FAQs
Frequently asked questions
Everything you might want to know before booking mold or indoor air quality testing. Don’t see your question? Just give us a call.
Do I need testing if I can’t see mold?
Yes — mold often hides behind walls, under floors, and in HVAC systems, invisible to the eye. Testing detects what a visual check can’t.
When should I test for mold?
Test when visible mold appears, when you suspect mold from allergy symptoms or musty odors, after water damage, flooding, sewage backups or ice dams, or during a property transaction. Professional inspection ensures dependable findings.
Is all black mold toxic?
Not all dark mold is toxic, though toxic types pose serious health risks. All mold can trigger health concerns — particularly for those with allergies. Only scientific testing by qualified professionals determines the actual hazard.
How long until I get results?
Verbal results are available rapidly, with a detailed written report delivered shortly after.
How much does mold testing cost?
Mold testing cost depends on the size of the property and how many samples are needed for an accurate result. We give you a clear, upfront quote before any work begins — and because we’re a testing-only company, you’ll never be upsold remediation you don’t need. Call (844) 332-6832 for a fast estimate.
Will insurance cover the cost of mold testing?
Coverage depends on your provider and policy. Contact your insurer to confirm whether mold assessment and remediation are covered. Our reports provide the documentation carriers typically require.
Does Eco-Tech handle remediation?
No. We are strictly testing-only, ensuring unbiased, accurate results. We’re happy to refer you to trusted, independent remediation specialists.
Can I use the same company to test and remediate?
Consumer advocates discourage this due to the conflict of interest — and New York State law prohibits one company from performing both testing and remediation on the same project. Eco-Tech provides independent, certified testing only.
What is indoor air quality (IAQ) testing?
IAQ testing measures levels of mold spores, allergens, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), chemicals, and other pollutants in your home or workplace, using advanced sampling and accredited laboratory analysis.
What contaminants do you test for?
Mold spores, VOCs, allergens, particulate matter (PM2.5 and PM10), carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, and chemical off-gassing — plus lead, asbestos, radon and water toxins.
Can’t I just buy an at-home air quality monitor?
Consumer monitors lack the precision to detect hidden mold, chemical pollutants, or allergens. Professional-grade equipment and lab analysis provide far greater accuracy.
Still have a question?
We’re happy to walk you through whether testing makes sense for your situation — no pressure, no remediation upsell.
